Buyer guidelines

Buying on a marketplace of independent sellers is different from buying from one shop. A little attention up front prevents nearly every problem, and this page is that attention written down.
Read the seller, not just the card
Every listing belongs to an independent seller, and they are not interchangeable. Before you order, the storefront tells you:
- Rating and review count. A 5.0 from four reviews says much less than a 4.7 from three hundred.
- Verified references. Selling history on TCGplayer, eBay, Whatnot and elsewhere that a person on our team actually checked.
- Orders completed and, once there is enough history to be meaningful, their on-time and success rates. We deliberately show nothing rather than a percentage derived from three orders.
- Handling time — how long before they post.
- Where they ship from. Two states away usually beats across the country.
- Their own returns and shipping policies.
A seller marked New seller is not a bad seller. Everyone starts there, and they were approved with verified references. It just means the numbers cannot tell you much yet.
Read the listing properly
- Condition. Near Mint, Lightly Played, Moderately Played, Heavily Played, Damaged. If a card is cheap for its grade, the grade is usually the reason.
- The exact printing. Parallels and alternate arts have their own collector numbers and are different products from the base card. Check the code, not just the name.
- The seller's photograph. Sellers must photograph the actual card for anything above a few dollars and for anything below Near Mint. If it matters to you and there is no photo, ask before you buy.
- Notes. Sellers flag whitening, edge wear and other specifics there.
Ask first — it is free
Message any seller from their storefront before ordering. Good questions: can I see the back? will you combine shipping if I buy four? is the corner wear worse than the photo suggests? Sellers answer their own messages and are expected to reply within two business days.
Buying from several sellers at once
Your cart groups by seller. You pay once, and then:
- Each seller ships you a separate parcel with its own tracking.
- Shipping is charged once per seller, not once per order.
- Parcels arrive at different times. One turning up before another is normal, not a problem.
- Each seller has their own handling time and their own policies.
The cart shows how much more you would need to spend with a given seller to reach their free-shipping threshold. Consolidating with one seller is usually cheaper than spreading an order across three.
Never pay off-platform
If a seller asks you to pay by PayPal Friends and Family, Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, cryptocurrency, or anything other than checking out here, stop and report them. It removes your PayPal Purchase Protection and every protection we offer, and it is the single most common way buyers are defrauded on card marketplaces. A "discount for paying direct" is the oldest version of this and it is never worth it.
Report from any storefront or conversation. Both accounts in an off-platform arrangement are suspended, so this is not a rule you can be talked into breaking safely.
When your order arrives
- Open it carefully — do not cut into a top loader.
- Check the card against the listing while the packaging is still to hand.
- If something is wrong, photograph the card and the packaging before you unpack further, and message the seller within 30 days.
Leave a review
You can review a seller once per order, within 90 days of it shipping. Only buyers with a real, shipped order can review — which is why the ratings here are worth reading.
Review what happened: how the card was graded, how it was packed, how fast it moved, how the seller communicated. A seller can reply publicly to any review, and cannot pressure you over one or offer you anything for it. If one tries, report it.
If something goes wrong
Message the seller first — genuinely, most things end there and end fast. If they do not reply within three days, or you cannot agree, open a dispute. See dispute resolution and refunds.
Your money is held by PayPal, not by the seller, until your order is delivered. See buyer protection for what that means in practice.
Where we ship
The contiguous United States only — the lower 48 and DC. We cannot currently deliver to Alaska, Hawaii, any US territory, or APO/FPO/DPO addresses. Checkout will tell you before you pay rather than after.
