What it takes to be approved to sell on PalSingles, and what it takes to stay approved.

To apply

• An account with a confirmed email address.
• A business or residential address in the contiguous United States. We are CONUS-only at launch, for buyers and sellers both. Your address stays private; buyers see only the city and state you ship from.
• Your legal name or registered business name. Never shown publicly. We need to know who we are dealing with.
• At least one marketplace reference. An account where you already sell — TCGplayer, eBay, Whatnot, Mercari, CardTrader, a Facebook BST group, a Discord community — with a username we can look up.
• A PayPal account able to receive payments. Connected before you can publish anything.
• Acceptance of the seller code of conduct.

About references

This is the part of the application that carries the most weight, and the part people most often rush.

A person on our team opens each account you list and checks that it exists, that the username matches, and that the feedback broadly matches what you told us. What we are looking for is a real trading history, not a perfect one — a store with 1,200 positives and a handful of negatives reads far better than an account with nine transactions and no negatives.

We cannot always verify a reference. A private BST group we cannot see into is marked "unable to verify" rather than rejected, and it simply does not count towards your approval. Give us at least one we can actually check.

Verified references appear on your storefront, so the reputation you already built somewhere else works for you here from your first day rather than starting you at zero.

Listing an account that is not yours is grounds for immediate and permanent closure.

What we do not ask for

We do not collect tax identification numbers, Social Security numbers, EINs, dates of birth, bank details or identity documents. We have no use for them at this stage and holding them would be a liability rather than a protection. If your volume ever reaches the level where tax reporting is required, that happens through PayPal — who already hold that relationship with you — and we will tell you before anything changes.

How long it takes

Usually a few days. A person reads every application and checks every reference; we would rather be slow than admit a store that costs a buyer their money. We will email you with a decision, or sooner if we need something more.

If we ask for more information, your application is returned to you with everything you already wrote still in it. If we decline, we tell you why where we can, and you are welcome to apply again later.

After approval

Approval creates your store immediately, but you cannot publish a listing until PayPal is connected. Buyers pay you directly, so until then there is nowhere for their money to go.

Staying approved

These are the numbers we watch. None of them is a hair trigger; a pattern is what matters.

Fall consistently below these and we will talk to you before we do anything else. Sellers who are trying and struggling get help; sellers who are not get removed.

If your PayPal connection breaks

Your listings stop being purchasable and you are emailed straight away. Orders you already have still need to be shipped, and funds already held for them are unaffected. Reconnect and you are trading again immediately.

Vacation and closing

Turn on vacation mode whenever you need to. Your storefront stays up and your listings stay visible, but nobody can place a new order until the date you set. Orders already placed still need to be fulfilled.

To close your store, fulfil or refund every outstanding order, then contact us. We do not close a store with orders in flight, because the buyers on the other end of those orders did nothing wrong.
