Seller code of conduct
Last updated 2026-08-01.
Every seller accepts this when they apply. It is short on purpose: the standards that matter on a card marketplace are few, and they are all about describing honestly and shipping promptly.
1. Grade honestly
Use the standard condition ladder — Near Mint, Lightly Played, Moderately Played, Heavily Played, Damaged — and grade the card in front of you, not the one you hope a buyer will accept. When you are between two grades, use the lower one.
Photograph the actual card for anything above a few dollars, and for everything below Near Mint. Stock images of a card you are not selling are not acceptable for a played copy: the whole question the buyer has is what this copy looks like.
Disclose anything a grader would note: whitening, edge wear, surface scratches, bends, creases, ink, water damage, a misaligned cut. A note in the listing costs you nothing. A dispute costs you a lot.
2. Ship when you said you would
You set your own handling time. We hold you to it. Every order shows a "ship by" date derived from the time you published, and shipping late counts against your seller metrics and slows your payouts.
- Add tracking to every order. It is how your funds get released, and it is what gives you PayPal Seller Protection if the buyer disputes.
- Pack properly: sleeve, top loader or semi-rigid, and a rigid mailer for anything of value. A card that arrives bent is your problem, not the carrier's, as far as the buyer is concerned.
- If you cannot ship, cancel promptly and tell the buyer. A cancellation hurts less than a silence.
An order that is never dispatched is refunded to the buyer automatically after 14 days and recorded as a cancellation against you.
3. Keep your listings true
- List only cards you physically have. No drop-shipping, no listing against an order you intend to place elsewhere.
- Keep quantities accurate. Overselling and then cancelling is the fastest route to suspension.
- Do not list prohibited items.
- Use your own photographs. Do not take another seller's images.
4. Communicate like a professional
- Answer messages within two business days.
- Stay civil, including when a buyer is not.
- Never ask a buyer to pay outside PalSingles, to cancel and re-buy elsewhere, or to communicate off-platform. This is a suspension offence on the first occurrence.
- Do not pressure a buyer over a review, offer anything in exchange for one, or retaliate against a negative one. You can reply publicly to any review; that is the appropriate response.
5. Deal with problems yourself, first
You are the seller of record. When something goes wrong with your order, it is yours to fix. Most cases are resolved by a refund or a replacement within a day, and buyers overwhelmingly respond well to a seller who simply sorts it out.
We step in when a buyer reports that you have not. That is worse for you than resolving it: it goes on your dispute record, which we read when we decide whether to keep you.
6. Compete fairly
- No second accounts, no buying from yourself, no arranged reviews.
- Do not report competitors' listings in bad faith.
- Do not use another store's name, branding or reputation as your own.
7. Be who you said you were
The references you gave in your application are part of why you were approved and are displayed publicly once verified. If they turn out to be someone else's accounts, or were materially misrepresented, your store is closed and any pending funds are returned to buyers.
What happens when this is broken
Proportionately, and with a record. A first minor lapse is usually a conversation. Repetition escalates: warning, listing removal, paused store, suspension, closure. Fraud, counterfeits and off-platform solicitation skip the ladder.
Suspension does not release you from orders you have already taken. You are still expected to ship them, and funds for them are still held until delivery. See account suspension.
