Marketplace fees

What selling on PalSingles costs, and when you get paid. The numbers on this page are read from the live configuration, so they cannot drift out of step with what you are actually charged.
The fee
8.5% of the item total
Charged once per order, per seller, at the time of sale, and deducted by PayPal as the payment is processed. You never receive an invoice from us and you never owe us a balance.
What is not charged
- No listing fee. List as much as you like.
- No monthly or subscription fee.
- No fee for inventory sitting unsold.
- No fee on the shipping the buyer pays. Commission is calculated on the item total only. Charging a percentage of postage means you would be paying us for money that goes straight to USPS.
- No markup on PayPal's processing fee. PayPal charges that to you directly under your own agreement with them. We do not see it, set it or take a share of it.

When you get paid
Buyers pay through PayPal, and PayPal holds your share until the order reaches its buyer. PalSingles never holds your money — we are not in the flow of funds at any point. What we control is the timing of the release.

Dispatch starts the clock. An order that is never dispatched is refunded to the buyer after 14 days, and you are not paid for it. If tracking stops updating, we treat the parcel as delivered 10 days after dispatch, so a carrier that goes quiet cannot hold your money indefinitely.
Add tracking to every order. It releases your funds faster and it is what earns you PayPal Seller Protection if the buyer disputes.
Refunds and the fee
Refund an order in full and we return our commission in full. Refund part of it and we return the same proportion. We do not profit from a sale that was undone — keeping a fee on one would make sellers reluctant to do right by a buyer, which costs everybody more than the fee is worth.
Chargebacks
A chargeback is between the buyer, their card issuer and PayPal. Where funds were already released and are subsequently reversed, that reversal falls on you as the seller of record, under your own PayPal agreement. Shipping with tracking to the address on the order is what qualifies you for PayPal Seller Protection, and it is the single best defence available to you.
Changes to fees
We will give sellers at least 30 days' notice by email before any increase takes effect. Orders already placed are settled at the rate that applied when they were placed — the schedule is recorded on each order at the time of sale, so a later change can never rewrite it.
Things that do not exist yet
We have built the platform so that promoted listings, featured placement, subscription tiers and advertising are possible later. None of them exists today, none of them affects search results today, and if any of them arrives it will be announced and clearly labelled. Paid placement that is not disclosed as paid placement is deceptive, and we are not going to do it.
